Indkal launches its first smartphone, Wobble One, priced from ₹22,000, after investing ₹225 crore in R&D, manufacturing and service capability.

Indkal invests ₹225 crore to build smartphone vertical

Speaking at the launch, Indkal Technologies CEO Anand Dubey said the company has invested around ₹225 crore to enter the mobile phone business. The investment covers R&D, outsourced manufacturing, marketing and the creation of after-sales infrastructure.

Dubey said the smartphone category involves a highly complex value chain, and Indkal has been working on the project for nearly three years.

Wobble One starts at ₹22,000; three variants announced

The Wobble One will be available in three memory combinations:
8GB + 128GB
8GB + 256GB
12GB + 256GB

Prices start at ₹22,000, positioning the phone in the mid-range segment. Indkal will later introduce models priced both below and above this bracket.

A higher-end device, built on a more advanced chipset, is planned in the ₹30,000–₹40,000 range.

Designed partly in India

Dubey said the Wobble One is partially designed in India, with the company handling the overall hardware layout and camera module. Components such as displays, batteries and chargers are sourced from local partners, while the chipset continues to be imported.

“We want to be present across segments and offer products that appeal to different types of customers,” Dubey said.

Camera setup and features

The Wobble One comes equipped with a 50MP OIS main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide lens, positioning it as a feature-rich contender in the mid-segment category.

Sales to begin in December

Indkal plans to make the Wobble One available on Amazon starting the first week of December, targeting peak online demand ahead of the year-end season.

Conclusion

With a sizeable investment and a clear product roadmap, Indkal’s entry signals growing momentum for Indian companies in the smartphone space. The Wobble One will now compete in a crowded mid-segment market dominated by Chinese and Korean brands.
