New Delhi: The Redmi Turbo 5 is expected to launch in India on June 16, according to recent leaks, marking the brand’s first entry of the Turbo series into the Indian smartphone market. While the company has not officially confirmed the launch date, a teaser spotted on Amazon and shared by tipster Sanju Choudhary suggests that the smartphone’s debut could be imminent.

The device was initially unveiled in China earlier this year alongside the Redmi Turbo 5 Max. Among the two models, Redmi had previously indicated that the standard Turbo 5 would be introduced in India, raising anticipation among consumers looking for a high-performance mid-premium smartphone.

With a “coming soon” teaser already live on Amazon, it is almost certain that the smartphone will be available for purchase through the e-commerce platform soon after its launch.

Expected specifications and display features

Based on its China variant, the Redmi Turbo 5 is likely to feature a 6.59-inch 1.5K flat OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The display is expected to offer a peak brightness of up to 3,500 nits, ensuring clear visibility even under bright outdoor conditions.

The screen may support a resolution of 1268 x 2756 pixels and incorporate 3840Hz PWM dimming technology, which helps reduce eye strain during prolonged usage. These features indicate that the device is aimed at users who prioritise both performance and visual quality.

Performance and software capabilities

Under the hood, the Redmi Turbo 5 is expected to be powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset. This processor is likely to be paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, enabling faster data access and improved multitasking performance.

The smartphone may offer up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage, making it suitable for heavy users, including gamers and content creators. On the software front, the device is expected to run on HyperOS 3 based on Android 16, providing a modern and optimised user experience.

Battery and charging features

One of the standout features of the Redmi Turbo 5 could be its large 7,560mAh battery, which is significantly higher than most smartphones in its segment. This could translate into extended usage times, reducing the need for frequent charging.

Additionally, the device is expected to support 100W wired fast charging, allowing users to quickly recharge the battery and minimise downtime. This combination of battery capacity and fast charging could be a key selling point for the smartphone.

Camera and multimedia experience

In terms of photography, the Redmi Turbo 5 is likely to come equipped with a dual-camera setup at the rear. This may include a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-600 primary sensor with optical image stabilisation (OIS) and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens.

For selfies and video calls, the device could feature a 20-megapixel front-facing camera. The smartphone is also expected to support video recording in up to 4K resolution at 60 frames per second, along with HDR10+ capabilities for enhanced video quality.

The audio experience may be enhanced by stereo speakers with Hi-Res Audio support, catering to users who consume a lot of multimedia content.

Design and durability

The Redmi Turbo 5 is expected to feature a premium design with an aluminium frame and a weight of around 204 grams. The device may also include an in-display fingerprint sensor for secure biometric authentication.

In terms of durability, the smartphone is likely to come with IP68 and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance, making it suitable for use in various environmental conditions.

The device was launched in China in Black, White and Mint colour options, and similar variants are expected to be available in the Indian market as well.

Conclusion

With powerful hardware, a large battery and premium features, the Redmi Turbo 5 appears to be positioned as a strong contender in India’s competitive smartphone market. While the official launch date is yet to be confirmed, leaks suggest that the wait may not be long.

If the expected specifications and pricing align well with consumer expectations, the Redmi Turbo 5 could attract significant attention from users seeking performance and value in a single package.
