Roblox introduces new parental controls to enhance child safety
Roblox has rolled out new parental controls, allowing parents to block specific friends, restrict game access, and monitor screen time. These updates aim to protect children from harmful interactions and inappropriate content.
Parents who verify their identity via ID or credit card can now:
✔ Block specific users from contacting their child.
✔ Set content maturity levels to control which games are accessible.
✔ Track screen time for better oversight.
The Online Safety Act mandates tech firms to tackle harmful content, or face fines of up to £18M or 10% of global revenue. Reports of bullying, grooming, and exposure to explicit content on Roblox have raised concerns, prompting these measures.
While safety advocates welcome the changes, critics argue Roblox still struggles with age-inappropriate content and must take stronger action beyond parental controls.
