Micro RGB TVs expand beyond ultra-large screens

Samsung has announced that its next-generation Micro RGB television technology will now be available in more practical screen sizes, moving beyond the massive 115-inch model unveiled earlier this year. The expansion makes the premium display technology more relevant for everyday living rooms rather than only luxury or commercial spaces.

The company confirmed that Micro RGB TVs will be offered in 55, 65, 75, 85, 98 and 100-inch variants, in addition to the existing 115-inch MR95F model. Pricing and official launch timelines are expected to be revealed at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January.

A more realistic upgrade for homes

While ultra-large TVs attract attention, most households prefer sizes between 55 and 75 inches. Samsung’s decision to bring Micro RGB technology to these formats signals a push towards wider adoption, especially among premium home entertainment buyers.

Industry observers note that this move could influence buying decisions in markets like India, where large-screen televisions are increasingly popular in urban homes, but space and affordability still matter.

How Samsung compares with rivals

At present, Samsung’s lineup includes the smallest Micro RGB TVs announced by any major brand. LG recently revealed its own Micro RGB models in 75, 86 and 100-inch sizes, while Hisense’s RGB mini-LED offering stands at 116 inches. TCL, meanwhile, has launched RGB mini-LED TVs in China, starting from 65 inches, though global availability remains unclear.

This puts Samsung ahead in making the technology accessible across a broader size range.

What makes Micro RGB different?

Unlike conventional LED TVs that rely on white or blue backlights, Micro RGB TVs use individual red, green and blue LEDs as the backlight source. According to Samsung, each LED cluster measures under 100 micrometres—smaller than a human hair.

This design improves colour purity, colour brightness and overall picture accuracy. Although industry terminology around “mini” and “micro” RGB is still evolving, Samsung’s specifications suggest a significant technical leap.

More details expected at CES

Samsung has confirmed that the new Micro RGB TVs will be showcased in detail at CES 2026 in January. Industry experts expect announcements on pricing, regional availability and performance benchmarks during the event.

As display technology continues to advance, Samsung’s move may redefine expectations for premium televisions in standard home sizes.
