The new range includes the Galaxy Tab S12 Plus and Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra, with both models targeting users looking for premium hardware, large AMOLED displays and productivity-focused features.

The Galaxy Tab S12 series succeeds the Galaxy Tab S11 lineup and brings upgrades across performance, display technology, battery capacity and artificial intelligence features. Both tablets come with an S Pen in the box and support microSD expansion of up to 2TB.

The Galaxy Tab S12 series starts at Rs 1,29,999 in India. Samsung will begin retail sales of the new tablets from October 7 through its website, Samsung Exclusive Stores, partner outlets and other online platforms.

The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra 5G starts at Rs 1,64,999 for the 12GB/256GB configuration, while the top-end 12GB RAM and 512GB storage model costs Rs 1,84,999.

Samsung is also offering launch benefits, including up to Rs 5,000 in bank cashback and an upgrade bonus of up to Rs 5,000. Availability and eligibility for these offers may vary depending on the purchase channel and applicable terms.

Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra gets a 14.6-inch AMOLED display

The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra is the larger of the two tablets and features a 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display.

The panel has a resolution of 2960 x 1848 pixels and supports a 120Hz refresh rate. Samsung says the display can reach peak brightness of up to 1,600 nits, making it suited to both productivity and multimedia use.

The Galaxy Tab S12 Plus features a slightly smaller 12.6-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2800 x 1752 pixels. It also supports a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 1,600 nits.

The large displays are aimed at users who want more screen space for multitasking, note-taking, document work, entertainment and other productivity applications.

Both tablets also support the S Pen, which is included in the box rather than being sold separately.

Slim aluminium design with IP68 rating

Samsung has used aluminium unibody construction on both models. The Galaxy Tab S12 series is available in Silver and Grey colour options.

The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra measures just 5.1mm in thickness. The Wi-Fi model weighs 692 grams, while the 5G version weighs 695 grams.

The Galaxy Tab S12 Plus is 5.3mm thick. Its Wi-Fi variant weighs 553 grams, while the 5G version weighs 555 grams.

Despite their slim construction, both tablets carry an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. This adds protection against exposure to water and dust and is particularly relevant for users who intend to carry the tablets between home, office and outdoor environments.

MediaTek Dimensity 9500 powers both tablets

Under the hood, both the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12 Plus are powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset.

The processor is based on a 3nm manufacturing process. Samsung says the new chipset delivers a 61 per cent improvement in NPU performance, a 19 per cent increase in CPU performance and a 17 per cent improvement in GPU performance compared with the previous generation.

The NPU improvements are particularly relevant to Samsung’s emphasis on on-device and AI-assisted features.

The combination of the high-end chipset, large displays and S Pen support positions the two tablets as productivity devices rather than simply larger-screen entertainment products.

Large batteries and 45W charging

Samsung has equipped the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra with an 11,600mAh battery, while the Galaxy Tab S12 Plus gets a 10,600mAh battery.

The company claims that the Tab S12 Ultra can deliver up to 23 hours of battery life, while the Tab S12 Plus can last for up to 21 hours under its stated conditions.

Both models support 45W wired charging. Samsung says the tablets can be charged from 0 to 100 per cent in around 95 minutes when using a 45W adapter.

However, the charging adapter is not included in the box, meaning buyers who do not already have a compatible charger will need to purchase one separately.

Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra gets dual rear cameras

The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra features a dual-camera setup on the rear. It includes a 13-megapixel primary camera and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera.

For selfies and video calls, the tablet has a 12-megapixel ultra-wide front camera.

The Galaxy Tab S12 Plus also gets a 13-megapixel rear camera, along with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide front camera.

Samsung has equipped both tablets with quad speakers and 4-channel spatial audio, making the audio system another part of the devices’ multimedia capabilities.

Galaxy AI features and Android 17

The Galaxy Tab S12 series runs Android 17 with Samsung’s One UI 9 interface.

Samsung is placing significant emphasis on Galaxy AI features, particularly for productivity and note-taking. Tools such as Note Assist are designed to help users work with content created using the tablet and S Pen.

The company is also offering a six-month Google AI Pro trial with the new tablets, giving eligible users access to Google’s premium AI features for the promotional period.

Samsung is further promising up to seven generations of operating system upgrades and security updates, extending the expected software support period for the flagship tablets.
