Beijing: Vivo on Friday officially launched OriginOS 6 in China, along with BlueOS 3 for its smartwatches. The new Android 16-based operating system will debut on the Vivo X300 Pro, Vivo X300, and iQOO 15 smartphones, with a staggered rollout to older models planned until May 2026. Vivo has emphasised a refreshed interface, AI-driven tools, and improved performance for users across its device ecosystem.

Redesigned interface inspired by Liquid Glass

OriginOS 6 introduces a modernised user interface that revamps the home screen, lock screen, and apps. Features include a dynamic clock widget, curved-edge widgets, circular app icons, and progressive blur effects. The design reportedly takes inspiration from Apple’s Liquid Glass style in iOS 26.

One of the highlights is the “Atomic Island,” similar to Apple’s Dynamic Island, providing quick access to controls such as music playback and stopwatch functions. Users will also benefit from a new control centre with customisable quick settings and stacked notifications for improved usability.

Blue River Smooth Engine enhances performance

Under the hood, Vivo has integrated the Blue River Smooth Engine, featuring super-core computing, dual-rendering architecture, and photonic storage. The company claims these technologies deliver smoother animations, better touch responsiveness, and stable frame rates, significantly reducing lag when switching between apps or screens.

Advanced AI tools for everyday use

OriginOS 6 brings a suite of AI-driven capabilities, including Live Photo AI Removal, AI Voice Prompts, AI image editing, and Circle to Search 2.0. These tools allow users to erase unwanted elements from photos, enhance resolution, convert images to PDFs, and quickly search for information related to on-screen objects.

BlueOS 3 improves smartwatch experience

Alongside OriginOS 6, Vivo launched BlueOS 3 for its smartwatches. Debuting on the Vivo Watch 5 and iQOO Watch 5 (Wi-Fi and Cellular variants) from November 3, the OS promises extended battery life, new always-on watch faces, enhanced animations, personalised app suggestions, and Blue Heart V calling support. Vivo claims the Vivo Watch GT 2 could achieve up to 33 days of battery life under BlueOS 3.
