Teen Brutally Assaulted Over Stunt-Riding Dispute in Bengaluru
A 16-year-old boy was severely attacked with scissors by a 22-year-old man after he objected to the latter’s reckless stunt riding in Bharathinagar, Bengaluru. The victim, Zayan (name changed), a class 9 student, sustained serious injuries, including three deep cuts to his skull and two gashes on his shoulder. Despite this, the police have yet to apprehend the accused, identified as Tameem, who is also from the same neighborhood.
The incident took place on the night of January 31. Zayan, who had stayed home sick from school, was walking to a classmate’s house when he witnessed Tameem performing dangerous wheelies on an electric bike. Zayan, concerned for safety, told Tameem to ride more carefully. In response, Tameem verbally abused him and, after a brief exchange, followed Zayan, knocked him down, and proceeded to assault him.
In a horrifying turn, Tameem ran to his father’s shop, grabbed a pair of scissors, and attacked Zayan repeatedly in full view of onlookers, who did not intervene. Tameem fled the scene only after passersby attempted to stop him. Zayan called his brothers, who took him to the hospital for treatment.
The police have filed a case against Tameem under the Juvenile Justice Act and sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for causing grievous harm and provoking a breach of peace. Authorities are taking further steps to ensure justice for the victim.
