Udupi is grappling with a shortage of tender coconuts, with supply from local regions like Barkur and Kundapur having stopped due to labor issues and a shift toward coconut oil production. Traders are now relying on Tamil Nadu for their supply, causing prices to soar. Currently, tender coconuts are priced at Rs 50, and the Gendali variety at Rs 60 per piece.

Supply from districts such as Tumakuru and Mysuru has also dropped due to low yields and local demand.

Banana prices have similarly increased, with prices ranging from Rs 70 to Rs 100 per kg due to reduced production in the Malnad and coastal regions.
