A private tour bus, part of Ashoka Travel Agency, was completely consumed by fire on the Mysuru-Bengaluru Expressway near Hosa Budhanuru village in Mandya early Sunday. The bus was transporting 20 passengers from Bengaluru to Kannur, Kerala, when the incident occurred around 2 am.
According to the police, the fire broke out after a tyre exploded, causing the vehicle to collide with the road divider. Reacting swiftly, the driver managed to bring the bus to a stop. Noticing smoke emerging from the vehicle, he immediately ordered all passengers to evacuate, ensuring they gathered their belongings.
