A mother-daughter duo got the surprise of a lifetime when they boarded their Emirates flight from the Seychelles to Switzerland for a Christmas vacation. Zoe Doyle, 25, and her 59-year-old mother, Kimmy Chedel, discovered that they were the only passengers in the entire economy-class cabin. Zoe shared their unique experience in a TikTok video, showcasing the empty seats, which has since garnered over a million views.
The viral video captures Kimmy attempting to wear Emirates cabin staff headgear while Zoe dances through the empty corridors and creates “snow angels” on the aircraft floor, all set to Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”
The mother-daughter duo had no prior knowledge of being the sole passengers and considered it a “complete surprise.” According to them, a combination of the monsoon season in the Seychelles and it being Christmas Day contributed to the lack of passengers. Although there were four others in first class, they were kept separate.
During the flight, the two received a tour of the aircraft but were not permitted to travel in first class. Despite this, they enjoyed the experience, engaging with flight attendants, filming funny videos, and even having Kimmy dressed up in cabin crew uniform with the help of a Polaroid camera.
In a similar incident in April 2023, a UK man traveling to Portugal from Northern Ireland found himself the sole passenger on the entire flight. Referred to as a “VIP guest,” he got to choose his seat, interact with the captain, and experience the flight as if it were a private jet. The father of three appreciated the exceptional service from the flight attendants and documented the unique event with photographs, jokingly asking for a refund on his seat as he marveled at the surreal experience.
