A recent viral video depicting individuals cooking food on the railway tracks at Mahim Junction railway station in Mumbai has sparked widespread concern and prompted swift action from authorities. The footage, originally shared on social media platform X, showcases women preparing meals on a makeshift stove between the tracks, with some children seen playing nearby and others studying amidst the activity.
With over 21,000 views and numerous comments expressing apprehension, social media users voiced their worries about the dangerous situation depicted in the video. Comments ranged from calls for immediate intervention to lamentations over the perilous conditions faced by those involved.
Following the circulation of the video, the Divisional Railways Manager (DRM) of Mumbai Central took cognizance of the matter and instructed Western Railway authorities to investigate. In response, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) was directed to address the issue promptly.
In a subsequent update, the RPF acknowledged the post on X and informed that personnel had been dispatched to the location to address the situation, removing individuals engaging in unauthorized activities. They also emphasized the importance of vigilance to maintain safety within the railway premises.

This incident follows another recent video shared on X, which depicted a member of the Railways housekeeping team discarding a garbage bag onto the tracks from a moving train. Upon receiving this footage, the DRM of Mumbai Division – Central Railway promptly responded, seeking specific details to take appropriate action against the responsible staff member.
These incidents underscore the ongoing efforts by railway authorities to address safety concerns and maintain cleanliness within the railway infrastructure.
