Bengaluru Intern Quits Abruptly After Securing Ai Startup Funding

In an unexpected turn of events, a Bengaluru intern has left his tech company role after securing funding for his own AI startup. Karthik Sridharan, CEO of Flexiple, shared a screenshot of his WhatsApp conversation with the intern on X (formerly Twitter), revealing the surprising reason behind the intern’s abrupt departure.

Sridharan inquired about the intern’s absence from work, to which the intern responded, “Sorry, I took leave because I had a meeting with a VC. My AI startup got funded. I don’t need the internship anymore.”

Sridharan captioned the screenshot, “This only happens in Bangalore,” highlighting the unusual nature of the situation.

The reaction on social media has been mixed. Some users celebrated the intern’s achievement, while others criticized his manner of quitting. Responses ranged from praise for the intern’s success to concerns about his communication skills and respectfulness.

  • “Glad for the kid! Just hope someone guides him to improve his communication skills!”
  • “No matter how young or inexperienced, basic communication skills and respect are important.”
  • “I think this is somewhat disrespectful, but understandable given the circumstances.”
  • “People are too quick to judge. This could be a casual conversation rather than a formal notice.”
