A gruesome murder has shocked Karnataka’s Tumakuru district after dismembered remains of a woman were discovered in ten different places across Koratagere taluk.
The chilling sequence began on August 7, when locals in Chimpuganahalli spotted a stray dog dragging a severed hand from nearby bushes near Mutyalamma Temple. Another hand, wrapped in plastic, was recovered a kilometre away. Police later found intestines near Lingapura Road bridge, stomach and internal organs at Bendone Nursery, and a leg with a blood-stained bag near Jonigarahalli. Two more bags containing body parts surfaced along the road between Siddarabetta and Negalal. The victim’s head was finally recovered on August 8 near Siddarabetta.
In total, body parts were scattered across areas under Koratagere and Kolala police stations. Investigators suspect the remains were deliberately dispersed to delay identification.
Based on tattoos on the hands and facial features, the victim was identified as 42-year-old Lakshmidevamma from Bellavi in Tumakuru taluk. She had been missing since August 4, with her husband, Basavaraju, filing a police complaint. He stated that Lakshmidevamma left for Urdigere on August 3 to visit her daughter but never returned.
Police believe she was murdered and mutilated two days before the discovery. The motive remains unclear, and no suspect has been traced yet. The brutality of the case has drawn comparisons to the 2022 Shraddha Walkar murder in Delhi.
The investigation continues as fear grips local residents.
