In a heartbreaking incident near Tumakuru Town Hall, a woman named Manjamma lost her life after being run over by a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus. The tragic event, caught on CCTV, has gone viral, highlighting the blatant negligence of the bus driver.
The bus, operating from the Kadur depot and travelling from Kadur to Bengaluru, fatally struck Manjamma as she was crossing the road. Shockingly, the driver, identified as Satish, failed to stop or even slow down after the initial impact. Instead, the bus’s front wheel ran over Manjamma, causing severe injuries. As the vehicle continued moving, the rear wheel also crushed her, resulting in her death on the spot. Satish only halted the bus after the rear wheels had already passed over her, making any rescue attempt futile.
The footage has triggered widespread outrage, with citizens questioning the KSRTC’s driver accountability and road safety protocols. The visuals clearly point to reckless driving and utter disregard for pedestrian safety.
This is not the first such case in Tumakuru; similar accidents have occurred in the past, raising urgent concerns about driver training and enforcement of traffic regulations.
Authorities are now under pressure to act firmly to prevent more such tragedies and hold those responsible accountable.
