Uber India Launches Uber Pet Service in Bengaluru for Pet Owners
Uber India has officially launched Uber Pet in Bengaluru, allowing users to travel in cabs with their pets. This new facility, available exclusively as a reserve-only option in the Uber app, aims to create a more pet-friendly travel environment for animal lovers in the city.
The decision to introduce Uber Pet comes in response to longstanding requests from pet owners, who often faced challenges finding transportation that would accommodate their animals. Many had to leave their pets at home while going out, but this service will enable them to bring their pets or birds along without concerns for their well-being.
During the launch, Shwetha Mantri, head of rider verticals at Uber India, stated, “We understand how important pets are to their families, and including them in our outings is essential. Uber Pet is our effort to make travel more accessible and convenient for pet owners and their companions.” She emphasized that the option is designed with pet parents in mind, aiming to provide a seamless experience while also creating additional earning opportunities for drivers.
Riders can pre-book their Uber Pet rides from 60 minutes to 90 days in advance, marking a significant step for pet-friendly services in Bengaluru. Previously, pet owners often had to request permission from drivers to bring their pets, which was frequently denied, making it challenging for them to travel together.
As competition intensifies among cab aggregators like Ola, Namma Yatri, Uber, and Rapido, innovations like Uber Pet aim to enhance user experience and cater to the needs of pet parents in the city.
