A sudden bee attack at Valakadu School in Udupi on Tuesday afternoon left 41 students injured, sending shockwaves through the local community. The incident occurred at around 3:30 PM when a swarm of bees descended on the school premises, causing panic among students and staff.
Reports suggest that the attack was triggered when one of the students, while playing on the school grounds, threw a stone at a beehive located on the building. The disturbance angered the bees, leading them to swarm the area and sting several students. The bees attacked children who were near the building, causing them to panic and run for cover.
Dr. Ashok Kumar, the District Surgeon, confirmed that 41 students were affected by the attack. Immediate medical care was provided at the Udupi District Hospital, where the children were treated for bee stings. Among the injured, three children required further medical attention and were admitted as inpatients at the Mother and Child Hospital in the city. One parent of the students was also hospitalized at the District Hospital for treatment due to injuries sustained during the incident. The remaining students received outpatient treatment and were discharged after their condition stabilized.
The teachers and parents acted quickly, rushing the children to the hospital to ensure prompt medical attention. Local authorities are investigating the cause of the incident and have cautioned schools to be more vigilant about potential hazards on school grounds.
This shocking attack has prompted calls for increased safety measures to protect students from such unexpected incidents.
