Udupi– Abaran Timeless Jewellery hosted a two-day gold and diamond exhibition themed ‘Back to Roots’ at Hotel Ocean Pearl Times Square, Kalsanka, on August 12–13, open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The event was inaugurated by actress Sudha Rani, who lauded Abaran’s legacy, stressing the importance of family roots and praising the brand for carrying forward its ancestral values. She expressed admiration for the company’s longstanding employees and fondly recalled filming in Udupi.
Udupi SP Hariram Shankar commended Abaran’s growth, noting the upcoming Udupi showroom and assuring police support for safe business operations. Former MLA Raghupathi Bhat and developer Ajay Purshotham Shetty also praised the brand’s heritage, product quality, and theme.
Managing Director Dr Prathap Madhukar Kamath shared the brand’s journey — from its 1935 beginnings as Neo Jewellery Mart in Udupi, rebranding as Abharan in 1979, and expanding to Bengaluru in the 1980s. Now in its 90th year, Abaran is returning to its birthplace with a new showroom, marking Dr Kamath’s 25th year in the trade. He highlighted that his daughter, Samyuktha, will be the fourth-generation custodian.
The exhibition showcased traditional, contemporary, and timeless designs. Dignitaries lit the ceremonial lamp, with Samyuktha delivering the vote of thanks.
Today, Abaran operates three heritage showrooms and an exclusive Rolex outlet at the Taj West End Hotel, blending craftsmanship with heritage.
