Brahmavar: Relentless rainfall since early morning has once again triggered artificial flooding in Brahmavar, exposing the recurring flaws in the town’s drainage infrastructure.
Water has inundated parts of National Highway 66, especially near the Bharani Petrol Bunk, where commercial complexes have been heavily affected. Among the worst-hit is a garage at the entrance of Waramballi Gram Panchayat, where rainwater surged inside, submerging vehicles and valuable equipment brought in for repairs.
Employees at the garage expressed frustration, stating they have been battling flooding since morning, with no relief in sight. “Every year it’s the same story. The drainage here is either blocked or completely inefficient,” said one worker.
Local residents also pointed fingers at the Waramballi Gram Panchayat, accusing it of ignoring the problem despite repeated complaints. “The panchayat acts blind every monsoon,” a shopkeeper commented, highlighting the administration’s lack of long-term planning.
This isn’t an isolated case. Businesses in the affected complex experience similar flooding year after year, leading to losses and constant disruptions. Locals are now demanding immediate action from the authorities to overhaul the drainage system and prevent future crises.
The continuous downpour has not only hampered traffic along the highway but also poses a risk to property and public safety. With the monsoon season just beginning, concerns are rising that without prompt intervention, such incidents will become more frequent and severe.
