In Udupi, a significant case has emerged involving the alleged illegal selling of a child. Rabia Banu and Khalid Syed, the accused parents, reportedly handed over their baby girl to a man named Wajid from Mulki. The situation came to light when an Anganwadi worker notified authorities.

Upon receiving the report, social workers from the Child Protection Unit attempted to visit the parents’ home, but found it locked. The police later located the parents, who admitted to the illegal transfer of their child during interrogation. The baby was returned to the police station by Wajid, who claimed he was unaware of any wrongdoing.

A complaint from a social worker led to the registration of a case under the Juvenile Justice Act at the Udupi Women’s Police Station. Both the mother and child are currently housed at the Sakhee One Stop Center for their safety while the investigation continues.
