Udupi: CCTV cameras have captured footage of suspicious movements linked to a series of thefts that took place in the city’s 31st Bailoor Ward on the night of September 29. The surveillance recordings reveal three masked individuals behaving suspiciously in the area, raising concerns among residents and authorities alike.

The footage shows the suspects wearing face masks and white cloth wrapped around their heads as they moved around the vicinity. They were notably observed outside a compound wall; however, their subsequent movements remain unknown to the police, complicating efforts to track their escape.

In the aftermath of the incident, which resulted in the theft of gold jewelry and cash exceeding ₹9 lakhs, law enforcement has reviewed CCTV footage from various shops and residences in the area. Unfortunately, they have yet to pinpoint the direction in which the suspects fled following the crime.

A week has passed since the incident, but police have not made significant progress in the investigation. They are currently analysing technical evidence and continuing to scrutinise the CCTV footage from across the city. According to police sources, certain individuals have raised suspicions, prompting the authorities to dispatch a team to North India as part of the investigation.

The case remains under active investigation as officials strive to identify and apprehend the suspects responsible for this brazen theft. Local residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police, as efforts to ensure community safety continue.
