In a deeply spiritual ceremony, Deacon Melroy Peter D’Silva was ordained as a Capuchin priest by Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi, at Holy Family Church, Brahmavar. The church was filled with joy as parishioners, clergy, and family gathered to celebrate this sacred moment.

Bishop Lobo expressed heartfelt gratitude to God and extended his congratulations to Deacon Melroy. He highlighted the importance of his parents’ sacrifice, saying, “You have entrusted your son to God, and He will bless you abundantly.”

He also congratulated Fr. Robin Victor D’Souza, the new Provincial Minister, and his team, wishing them success. The bishop commended Fr. John Fernandes and the parish for organizing the ceremony with excellence.

A felicitation event followed, attended by several Capuchin priests, including Fr. Robin Victor D’Souza, Fr. Paul Melwyn D’Souza, and Fr. John Fernandes, along with Melroy’s proud parents, Irene and Maxim D’Souza. Fr. Charles Furtado praised Melroy for embracing priesthood despite modern-day challenges, noting his talents in studies and arts.

Fr. Robin Victor D’Souza shared his own experience of being ordained in the same parish, emphasizing the significance of this milestone. Fr. Praveen Amrith Martis, representing Ajekar parish, lauded Melroy’s dedication and impact on the community.

In his first speech as a priest, Fr. Melroy humbly acknowledged the grace that led him to this path, expressing gratitude to his family and supporters.
