Udupi: The legendary saga of Tulunadu’s twin folk warriors, Koti and Chennayya, will be brought to life on stage this Sunday, July 27 at 2 pm at Xavier Hall, Udyavara. The cultural event is being hosted by Sri Narayana Guru Yuva Vedike (R), Udupi.
The drama, titled “Birth of the Brave – Koti Chennayer,” promises to be a captivating blend of folklore, history, and devotion. Directed by the creators of the acclaimed film Dharma Chavadi, the production will be performed by the Mangaluru-based group Prakruthi Kalavider Kudla. This will be their debut performance of Koti Chennayer in Udupi district. Entry is free for all attendees.
Known for nurturing cultural traditions and spreading social awareness, Sri Narayana Guru Yuva Vedike has previously hosted critically appreciated dramas like Shudra Shiva, Gejje Giri Kshetra Mahatme, and Shambhu Kallu Kshetra Mahatme — all rooted in local heritage and religious lore.
Apart from staging plays in Tulu and Kannada, the Vedike is also known for promoting Sri Narayana Guru’s philosophy through initiatives such as Guru Sandesha, a platform for speakers to share insights on the message: “One Caste, One Religion, One God.”
This production marks the third major cultural event organized by the Vedike in 2025 alone, underlining its commitment to preserving and celebrating regional legends.
