A fire erupted on the set of Nettarakere in Benjanapadavu, Bantwal taluk, on Tuesday, causing significant damage to a section of the production site. One portion of the set was completely destroyed before the blaze was contained.
The fire reportedly originated in the cooking area of the set, located within the jurisdiction of the Bantwal Rural Police Station. As soon as the flames were noticed, the film crew promptly alerted the local fire department. Firefighters arrived swiftly and managed to extinguish the fire before it spread further.
The incident caused disruption to the ongoing shoot of Nettarakere, a bilingual film being made in Tulu and Kannada. The project is helmed by Swaraj Shetty, best known for his role as ‘Guruva’ in the critically acclaimed film Kantara. In addition to directing, Shetty has also written the screenplay and plays a key role in the movie.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the production team is now assessing the extent of the damage. The makers are expected to resume shooting after necessary repairs and safety checks are completed.
