Udupi: A 42-year-old fisherman from Koppal district died after accidentally slipping into the sea while hauling a fishing net from a boat, leaving his family and fellow fishermen in grief.

Fisherman goes missing at sea

The deceased has been identified as Ashoka, 42. He had set out on a fishing trip on September 8 aboard the Jai Ganesh, a boat owned by Prakash.

While the boat was out at sea, Ashoka was reportedly pulling in a fishing net when he accidentally lost his footing and fell into the water.

He went missing following the incident, prompting efforts to trace him.

Body recovered after three days

Ashoka’s body was recovered from the sea on the morning of September 11, three days after he went missing.

The recovery brought a tragic end to the search for the fisherman, while his family was left to cope with the sudden loss.

The incident has once again highlighted the risks faced by fishermen who work at sea, where changing conditions and the physical demands of hauling nets can lead to sudden accidents.

Police register case

A case has been registered at Malpe police station in connection with the incident.
