Udupi: In the backdrop of increasing political tension and communal unrest, Karnataka Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwar, a prominent Congress and Dalit leader, paid a devotional visit to the Sri Durgaparameshwari Temple in Belmannu, Karkala taluk of Udupi district. He took part in the sacred Chandika Homa ritual, a significant Vedic ceremony conducted in the temple courtyard.

The religious observance began early morning and was led by Belmannu priest Vignesh Bhat. Dr. Parameshwar, accompanied by his wife Kannika Parameshwar, actively participated in the complete Homa, including the Purnahuti and prasadam offering. He offered prayers for mental peace, prosperity, longevity, and the removal of obstacles.

Following the rituals, Dr. Parameshwar addressed the media and expressed concern over the recent spate of killings in Dakshina Kannada district. He stated that the government has established a dedicated investigative team and even reshuffled key officers in response.

A non-political, non-religious peace conference is scheduled in Mangaluru on Wednesday, where citizens, spiritual leaders, and elected representatives will gather. The objective is to restore harmony and spread a unified message of peace.

Dr. Parameshwar criticized the divisive tactics of certain BJP leaders, stating, “This divide cannot continue forever. If there’s peace in the coastal belt, there’s no reason for such division. Our efforts aim to rebuild the region’s reputation for harmony and unity.”

After taking part in the Chandika Homa ritual at Sri Durgaparameshwari Temple in Belmannu, Karkala Taluk, Home Minister Dr G Parameshwar reached Mangaluru on his official visit.

He is scheduled to meet with Congress party workers at the Secretariat House to discuss local political strategies and party affairs.

Later, the Home Minister will visit the renowned Kukke Subrahmanya Temple, continuing his spiritual engagements during the coastal tour.

Tomorrow, Dr Parameshwar is set to attend and lead a peace meeting in Mangaluru, which aims to promote harmony and communal unity across the region.
