Udupi: In a tragic turn of events following the Gangolli boat accident, the body of one of the three missing fishermen was discovered early this morning near Kodi Lighthouse.
The fishing vessel had set out from Gangolli port on the morning of July 15. Unfortunately, it overturned after being struck by a powerful sea wave. Out of the four crew members onboard, one managed to swim ashore, while the other three were reported missing.
During an intensive and ongoing search operation, the body of 38-year-old Lohit Kharvi was found washed up on the coastline on Wednesday morning. Rescue teams and local authorities, supported by coastal police, are continuing their search for the two remaining missing fishermen — Jagannath Kharvi and Suresh Kharvi.
Officials have intensified surveillance along the coastal belt, and boats with rescue teams are scouring the area. The incident has cast a shadow of grief over the local fishing community, with families and fellow fishermen anxiously awaiting further news.
The tragedy has once again raised concerns about safety measures during rough sea conditions, especially during the monsoon season, when waves can be unpredictable and dangerous.
Authorities have assured that all efforts will continue until the remaining fishermen are located.
