Karkala: A gas cylinder placed outside a residential complex in Pulkeri accidentally caught fire and exploded, injuring a woman and causing significant damage to other apartments in the complex. The incident occurred around 10:30 PM on Saturday night.
The explosion spread flames to the apartments on the fourth floor, making evacuation challenging for the residents. The fire engulfed household items in several apartments, filling the entire complex with smoke. The blast shattered windowpanes and broke the doors of the apartments, causing partial damage to the building.
The firefighting operation was led by fire station officer Albert Monis, with team members Achyut Karkera, Suresh Kumar, Jayamoolya, Nityanand, and Ravichandra. Their prompt response helped contain the fire and prevent further damage.
