Udupi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Bengaluru, has forecast heavy rainfall accompanied by gusty winds across Karnataka’s three coastal districts over the next three days.
According to the weather report, isolated places are likely to receive heavy rainfall, with wind speeds expected to reach 30 to 40 kmph. Generally cloudy weather is also expected to prevail across the coastal region.
Moderate to heavy showers reported
Udupi district has received moderate to heavy rainfall at several locations since Sunday night and Monday morning.
The showers occurred in intense spells, with some periods of rainfall lasting between 30 and 45 minutes.
The forecast has prompted attention among residents, particularly in areas that have experienced heavy showers in recent days.
Hebri records highest rainfall
In the 24-hour period ending at 8.30 am on Monday, Udupi district recorded an average rainfall of 4.2 mm.
Hebri recorded the highest rainfall at 10.1 mm, followed by Udupi with 8.2 mm.
The rainfall recorded at other locations was:
- Brahmavar – 6.2 mm
- Kaup – 3.7 mm
- Karkala – 2.7 mm
- Byndoor – 2.2 mm
- Kundapur – 1.6 mm
With heavy rain forecast at isolated places and winds reaching 30 to 40 kmph, residents have been advised to remain cautious during intense spells and follow updates issued by the weather authorities.
