Udupi: The Isha Foundation Bangalore will be conducting a Rural Sports Festival on August 24 from 9 am to 6 pm at St. Cecilia High School, Brahmagiri, Udupi, announced foundation volunteer Sabhyat Shetty at a press conference.

The festival will feature volleyball for men and throwball for women. The cluster-level matches will be held first at St. Cecilia’s campus, with the champion and runner-up teams advancing to the sectional round scheduled on August 31 at Keradi, Kundapur. Winners from there will compete in the grand finale at the Isha Yoga Center, Coimbatore, on September 21.

At the cluster stage, the top four teams will receive cash prizes:

  • 1st place – ₹10,000

  • 2nd place – ₹7,000

  • 3rd place – ₹5,000

  • 4th place – ₹3,000

  • At the national-level finals, the winning volleyball and throwball teams will each take home a grand prize of ₹5 lakh.

    To preserve the rural spirit of the event, only players from the same village or gram panchayat can form a team. Multiple teams from a village are allowed, but municipal and city teams are not eligible.
