Udupi: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar criticised the Janata Dal (Secular) and Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday, accusing them of engaging primarily in politics driven by religion and emotions rather than focusing on governance and public welfare.

Statement in Udupi

Speaking to reporters in Udupi, Shivakumar remarked, “JDS and BJP have no other profession. Both parties do not care about life. They do politics on religion and emotions.”

His comments came in response to the two opposition parties holding a political convention in Dharmasthala, which he implied was another attempt to stir public sentiment.

Avoids comment on Mysore Dasara-Rajmata issue

When questioned about his stance on the Mysore Dasara-Rajmata controversy, Shivakumar chose not to respond, maintaining that he had no remarks to offer at this stage.

Visit to Sri Krishna Math

The Deputy Chief Minister was in Udupi to attend the 64th birth star programme of Paryaya Sri at Sri Krishna Math. Expressing his reverence, he said, “I want the blessings of Krishna, Ganapati, and your media. Do you want everyone’s blessings?”

Shivakumar added that his visit to the Math had been pending for a long time due to his official commitments, noting that the invitation had been extended since his government assumed office.
