Udupi: Kundapur police station inspector Nanjappa N. (59), a native of Bhadravati in Shivamogga district, passed away late Wednesday night after battling illness. He had been undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Udupi after falling ill on duty earlier this week.
Inspector Nanjappa had reportedly experienced severe high blood pressure while on duty on Monday. He was immediately admitted for medical care, but despite two days of treatment, his condition did not improve, and he breathed his last on Wednesday night.
Having joined the police service as a Sub-Inspector in 2003, Nanjappa served in various districts including Shivamogga, Davanagere, and Haveri. His dedication and service led to his promotion as Inspector, and he was posted to Kundapur police station in August 2024.
A solemn tribute ceremony was held this morning, led by SP Dr Arun Kumar, with ASP Sudhakar Naik, ASP Parameshwar Hegde, and fellow officers and staff paying their final respects. Social worker Nityananda Olakadu also participated in the arrangements.
Inspector Nanjappa was known for his sincerity, discipline, and commitment to duty. His sudden demise has left a void in the local police force and among those who worked closely with him.
