In a tragic incident, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Vishwanath (56) of Malpe Police Station passed away on Sunday night after suffering a heart attack during a farewell function organised for the station staff.
According to reports, Vishwanath collapsed while singing at the event and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival, confirming that he had suffered a cardiac arrest.
Vishwanath, who had recently been transferred to the Malpe Police Station, had served in several police stations over the course of his career. Colleagues described him as a dedicated and well-respected officer who was known for his sincerity and warm nature.
The news of his sudden passing has left the Udupi police fraternity and local community in shock, as tributes continue to pour in for the late officer.
