In a tragic accident on National Highway 66 near Moolur, a man was killed, and his wife was severely injured after being hit by a private bus on the night of October 9. The incident occurred in front of Mirchi Hotel while the couple was attempting to cross the road.
The deceased, identified as 55-year-old Hidayatullah, was a resident of Kapu Bharat Nagar. His wife, Savar, who sustained serious injuries, is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Udupi.
According to reports, the couple had been traveling from Uchila towards Kaup and had stopped their bike to cross the road to the hotel on the opposite side. A private bus traveling from Udupi to Mangaluru struck them during this attempt, leading to Hidayatullah’s death on the spot.
Hidayatullah had been working in Saudi Arabia and was home on vacation. He is survived by his wife, a son, and a daughter. The Padubidri police are investigating the incident.
