Karnataka’s Women and Child Development Minister and Udupi District In-charge, Lakshmi Hebbalkar, has extended her heartfelt condolences to the families of the three fishermen who tragically lost their lives after their boat capsized off the Gangolli coast in Byndoor taluk.

The minister stated she was in constant contact with the Udupi district administration since the fishermen went missing on July 15, receiving updates continuously. “It’s deeply saddening that they couldn’t be saved. I will soon meet the families of Suresh Kharvi, Rohit Kharvi, and Jagannath Kharvi to personally express my sympathies,” she said.

Relief and Support Promised

Hebbalkar assured that the government would extend relief as per established norms and pledged her full commitment to support the bereaved families. “I share their pain and pray that they find strength to cope with this tragedy,” she added, expressing hope that the souls of the deceased rest in peace.

Fishermen Cautioned Amid Weather Alerts

With heavy rains continuing along the coast, the minister noted that a yellow alert has been issued for Udupi district. She has directed local authorities to prevent fishermen from venturing into the sea and to implement all necessary safety measures to avoid further mishaps.
