Dakshina Kannada district witnessed a brief break from intense rainfall on Saturday, with only moderate showers reported in some areas. However, late-night downpours on Friday in Puttur, Bantwal, and Beltangady caused localized flooding, which subsided by morning.

By 8:30 am on May 31, the district had recorded an average rainfall of 132.3 mm, compared to the normal 10.5 mm. Belandur (Puttur taluk) topped the chart with 480.5 mm, followed by Barya (369 mm) and Bellare (278.5 mm).

Three houses were partially damaged, and there was reported damage to 151 electric poles, 10 transformers, and over 7.5 km of electric lines. To bolster preparedness, NDRF and SDRF teams have been deployed across key locations, with 25 boats on standby.

The IMD has issued a Yellow Alert from June 1–4, signaling continued rainfall.

Udupi Sees Rainfall Ease, Damage Reports Minimal

In contrast, Udupi district saw no rain on Saturday. The skies remained cloudy with intermittent sun, allowing infrastructure work to resume. Light rainfall is expected till June 3, though strong winds may persist.

Minor damage was reported due to tree falls in Byndoor, Kundapur, Kaup, and Brahmavar, including a house and cattle shed.
