Udupi: The historic Saptotsava festival at Paryaya Sri Puttige Sri Krishna Math is set to take place from January 9 to 15, marking the auspicious occasion of Makara Sankranti. This grand celebration, deeply rooted in Udupi’s spiritual heritage, commemorates the installation of Lord Krishna’s idol by Jagadguru Sri Madhvacharya over eight centuries ago.

This year’s festivities will witness the presence of international dignitaries, including John Mullahy, Member of Parliament from Victoria, Australia. MP Mullahy’s visit underscores the global recognition of Udupi’s cultural and religious significance. Invited by the esteemed Paryaya Swamiji, his participation highlights the growing global connections of this revered temple town, often referred to as “Rajatapitha Puri” for its spiritual radiance.

Adding to the spiritual grandeur, Sri Pundarika Goswami, the Mahaswami of the Madhwa Math of Gaudiya, will also partake in the celebrations. Known for his profound Bhagavata discourses and recognized by dignitaries, including the Vice-President of India, his presence promises to elevate the spiritual atmosphere of the event.
