Udupi faced devastating rainfall on Sunday, particularly affecting Mudradi and portions of Hebri. Several homes were submerged in areas such as Hosakambla, Kantarabail, and Kelakila in Mudradi. The floods resulted in the loss of two cars and multiple motorcycles. A significant downpour, reminiscent of a cloudburst, hit Kabbinale Betta, leading to rapid water flow in the vicinity.

Local residents reported that the heavy rainfall persisted for nearly three hours, inundating vast stretches of farmland, including paddy, rubber, arecanut, coconut, and banana plantations in Bammagundi. Additionally, over 25 electricity poles were damaged, disrupting power supply across the region. Tourists near the waterfalls in Kabbinale were seen fleeing to safety as water levels rose abruptly.

Emergency services worked diligently to conduct rescue operations, addressing the aftermath of the heavy rainfall. The Dakshina Kannada district also experienced significant rainfall on the same evening, further compounding the challenges faced by local authorities and residents.
