Udupi: Three separate missing person cases have been registered at different police stations across Udupi district over the past few days, with police launching searches and appealing to the public for information on their whereabouts.

The cases involve a middle-aged man and two women reported missing from different taluks. Complaints have been filed by family members after the individuals failed to return home and could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.

Police said enquiries are underway in all three cases and standard tracing procedures have been initiated.

Man missing since December from Mooduthonse area

In the first case, Satish (43), a resident of Rajeev Nagar, Nejaru in Mooduthonse village of Udupi taluk, has been reported missing since December last year. According to the complaint filed by family members, he had left his house stating that he was going for work but did not return.

Relatives said efforts to trace him through friends, workplaces and known contacts did not yield results, following which a formal complaint was lodged.

Satish is about 5 feet 6 inches tall and has an oily dark complexion. He is able to speak Tulu, Kannada and Hindi. Police have registered a missing person case at the Malpe Police Station and have begun inquiry based on available leads.

Officials said checks are being carried out at transit points and with local networks to gather any clues about his movement after he left home.

Woman missing after going to market

In the second incident, Mallika (31), who was staying in a rented house in Kirimanjeshwara of Byndoor taluk, has been missing since February 5. As per the complaint, she left her residence at around 3 pm after informing family members that she was going to the market.

However, she did not return home and has not contacted her relatives since then. Family members said her phone has remained unreachable, raising concern about her safety.

Mallika is approximately 5 feet 3 inches tall, has a round face, oily dark complexion and a normal build. She speaks Kannada. A missing complaint has been registered at the Byndoor Police Station.

Police teams are verifying CCTV footage from nearby commercial areas and transport points as part of the investigation.

Third case involves woman under treatment

In the third case, Rathi (37), a resident of Choradi in Hiliyana village of Brahmavar taluk, has been reported missing since January 31. According to the complaint filed by her family, she had been suffering from mental illness and left her residence without informing anyone.

When she failed to return, relatives conducted a search in nearby areas and with acquaintances but were unable to trace her, after which they approached the police.

Rathi is about 5 feet tall, has a fair complexion and a stout build. She speaks Kannada. A complaint has been lodged at the Shankaranarayana Police Station and search efforts are in progress.

Police said special attention is being given to this case considering her medical condition, and nearby villages and public places are being checked.

Public requested to share information

Police have urged citizens to come forward with any information that could help trace the missing persons. Even small details, such as recent sightings or travel information, may assist the investigation, officials said.

Members of the public who have relevant inputs have been requested to contact the respective police stations immediately. Authorities added that the identity of informants would be kept confidential where required.

Search efforts are continuing across jurisdictions, and alerts have been circulated through local networks as part of the tracing process.
