A serious accident took place near the Udyavara petrol pump on National Highway 66 in Udupi district early yesterday morning, when a tourist vehicle collided with a stationary lorry parked on the roadside. The vehicle, which was from out of state and en route to Kollur, struck the lorry, leaving several tourists, including women, injured.
Local residents promptly assisted in taking the injured to a nearby hospital for treatment. The tourist vehicle suffered extensive damage from the impact. Kapu police arrived at the scene and have conducted an inspection to investigate the incident.
