A tragic incident on Thursday night, July 11, on national highway 66 near the Durgamba bus depot in Kundapur, resulted in the loss of Sundar (39), a dedicated municipal worker and resident of Barkur’s Bandi Math. Sundar, who had served the Kundapur Municipality on a contract basis for 15 years before recently becoming a permanent employee, was fatally injured in a collision between his bike and a Durgamba bus.
The accident occurred as Sundar attempted to turn his bike from the highway onto the service road. The collision with the bus from Kundapur led to the complete crushing of Sundar’s bike, tragically claiming his life at the scene.
Following the incident, Sundar’s body was transported to the government hospital, and Kundapur traffic police have initiated an investigation into the matter. Public outcry has intensified, with concerns raised about the safety of the divider’s construction near the Durgamba bus depot, which locals had previously deemed unscientific. The untimely death of Sundar has further fueled community anger and calls for corrective measures.
