Udupi – In a major crackdown on corruption, Renuka, Deputy Director of the Audit Department of the Udupi District Cooperative Society, and Jayaram, a First Grade Assistant, were caught red-handed by Lokayukta police while accepting a bribe.
The duo had allegedly demanded ₹10,000 – ₹5,000 each – from Narendra, the CEO of Shantiniketan Souharda Cooperative Society, to facilitate the elections of the society’s administrative board. Narendra promptly filed a complaint with the Udupi Lokayukta police.
During a well-coordinated raid, Renuka was nabbed while receiving the bribe in her office in Udupi. The sting operation was carried out under the direction of SP Kumarachandra of the Mangaluru Lokayukta.
The operation team included DySP Manjunath Shankarahalli, Inspector Rajendra Nayak, and several other officers.
