Udupi: The Udupi District BJP has strongly demanded the immediate arrest of Mahesh Shetty Timarodi, accusing him of disturbing public order and targeting Hindu religious institutions.
According to the BJP, Timarodi has repeatedly made offensive and defamatory statements against prominent party figures, including BJP National General Secretary B.L. Santosh, who has been vocal in safeguarding Hindu religious centers. The party alleged that Timarodi has crossed limits by spreading false, hateful, and abusive remarks on social media, which they say has hurt the sentiments of thousands of workers and supporters.
Udupi District BJP President Kuthyaru Naveen Shetty stated that Timarodi’s conduct amounts to anti-social behavior aimed at silencing those who speak in favor of religious institutions. “He is attempting to create disharmony by using degrading language against leaders who work for society’s spiritual values,” he said, demanding strong punitive action.
The BJP further described Timarodi as a habitual offender with rowdy tendencies, who uses threats and falsehoods to intimidate opponents. His actions, the party claims, are designed to damage the reputation of respected leaders and disturb peace in the community.
In this context, the Udupi District BJP has formally lodged a complaint at the Udupi City Police Station, pressing for strict enforcement of the law. They urged authorities to take action under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, the IT Act, and Cyber laws to ensure that such incidents do not recur.
The party insisted that it is crucial for the police to curb his disruptive activities immediately, thereby protecting social harmony and the dignity of religious institutions.
