Udupi: A 13-year-old Class 8 student at the Morarji Desai Residential School in Miyar collapsed and died on Wednesday, October 28.
The deceased has been identified as Meghna, a native of Bagalkot district. According to reports, she suddenly lost consciousness and collapsed at around 6 am on Wednesday.
School staff immediately rushed the girl to the Karkala Government Hospital for treatment. However, after examining her, doctors confirmed that she had died.
Body to be shifted to Manipal for post-mortem
Arrangements were reportedly being made to transport Meghna’s body to Manipal for a post-mortem examination to help establish the cause of death.
The sudden death of the young student has raised concerns, though the cause of her collapse has not yet been established.
Police register case
The Karkala Town police have registered a case in connection with the incident. Further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the student’s death are awaited.
