Udupi District Collector (DC) Vidya Kumari K urged Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) students to approach their upcoming exams with confidence and without anxiety. Speaking to reporters on March 19, the DC reassured students that the mock exams held on March 14 at 51 centres across the district have helped build confidence. “Last year, our district ranked first with a 97% pass rate, and we expect to maintain that top position this year,” she said.
The SSLC exams will be held from March 21 to April 4, with timings from 10 am to 1 pm. In total, 14,153 students from 272 high schools across the district will sit for the exams, including 13,798 freshers, 215 private freshers, 96 repeaters, and 44 private repeaters. Among the candidates, 7,411 are boys and 6,742 are girls. The DC assured that all examination centres are equipped with the necessary infrastructure to ensure smooth conduct.
In response to the sweltering heat, ORS (Oral Rehydration Salts) have been provided at all exam centres, with health workers on standby for first aid. Additionally, 1,013 staff members have been assigned to oversee the exams. For the first time, a mid-day meal will be provided for students after the exams, addressing the concerns of students traveling from distant areas. The DC also highlighted the availability of free KSRTC bus travel for students to reach their examination centres.
