Udupi: Deputy Commissioner Vidya Kumari K has issued a warning to the public after reports of fake social media accounts created in her name to solicit money. She reported the issue to the Udupi CEN police and cautioned residents not to respond to such requests.
The DC revealed that miscreants have been using a fake account on WhatsApp under the name “Dr K Vidya Kumari IAS, DC” to send messages requesting money. The perpetrators are also misusing her photo on Facebook to send friend requests and then ask for financial assistance.
Vidya Kumari K advised the public to refrain from engaging with these fraudulent messages and to immediately report them to local authorities with the relevant details. A formal complaint has already been filed, and the DC urged people to be cautious and avoid responding to suspicious friend requests or financial demands.
