Udupi: Decent Friends Matapady Neelavara emerged victorious in the Matapady Premier League (MPL) Trophy, an invitational cricket tournament held in memory of late Prabhakar Acharya. Organized by the Friends Matapady Youth Club, Brahmavar, the tournament saw Friends Matapady secure the runners-up position. Matches were played at Gandhi Maidan, Brahmavar, and inaugurated by Sudhakar Shetty, retired headmaster of Shri Nikethan Higher Primary School.

A total of 10 invited teams competed. Among individual honors, Raghavendra Poojari was named Best Player of the Series, while Srikanth won Man of the Match. Pradeep Shetty was recognized as Best Batsman, Ajith as Best Bowler, Sudarshan as Best Fielder, and Ankush as Best Wicketkeeper. Semi-finalists CFC Chantaru and Kunjalu Strikers were also felicitated.

The closing ceremony honored dignitaries, including Yakshagana artist Arun Nayak, cricket commentator Raghavendra Acharya, and journalist Chetan G Poojari Matapady. The Acharya family was also recognized. The event was attended by numerous notable guests and Youth Club members.

Sharath Nayak, Youth Club president, welcomed the gathering, with Sharon, Ankush, and Subrahmanya Acharya introducing the guests. The event was skillfully hosted by Chetan Matapady, who also delivered the vote of thanks.
