Udupi: The Udupi District Junior Athletic Meet, hosted by the Udupi District Amateur Athletic Association, commenced with much excitement at the Udupi District Stadium.
The event was formally inaugurated by Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna, while Manipal VK Group President K.M. Shetty lit the ceremonial lamp. The function was presided over by Association President Hariprasad Rai.
A distinguished lineup of guests graced the occasion, including Udupi Municipal Corporation President Prabhakar Poojary, former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, Karnataka Athletic Association Vice President Mahesh Thakur, Lions District Governor Swapna Suresh, and Udupi District Guarantee Implementation Authority President Ashok Kumar Kodavoor.
Also present were Udupi Taluk Guarantee Implementation Committee President Ramesh Kanchan, Sports and Youth Empowerment Department Assistant Director Dr. Roshan Kumar Shetty, Udupi Government Women’s Degree College Principal Prof. Sojan K.G., and Association Treasurer Narayana Prabhu.
The program began with a welcome address by Association Secretary Dinesh Kumar A., followed by an introductory note from Ramachandra Patkar. The proceedings were skillfully compered by Srikanth Samant.
The meet witnessed enthusiastic participation, with around 350 athletes competing across under-14, under-16, under-18, and under-20 categories, making it a vibrant platform for showcasing young sporting talent from the district.
