A case has been registered at the Udupi Town Police Station against an individual for impersonating a parliamentary secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office and defrauding the revered Sri Krishna Matha. The accused, identified as Dr. Uday, reportedly contacted the math’s administrator, Nagraj Acharya, posing as the parliamentary secretary and requesting special arrangements for his family’s visit.

Dr. Uday arrived at the math in an Innova car adorned with a “Government of India” sticker, furthering his facade of legitimacy. However, the officials at Sri Krishna Matha became suspicious of his claims and decided to verify his credentials through the official government website. Their search yielded no information regarding Dr. Uday, raising red flags about his identity.

According to the complaint, Dr. Uday made various false claims to deceive the math, taking advantage of their hospitality. The alleged impersonation not only violated trust but also showcased how easily individuals can exploit revered institutions for personal gain.

Following the verification process, the math’s manager, Nandan, filed a complaint with the local police. Authorities are currently investigating the matter to gather further evidence and take appropriate action against the accused. The police are also looking into whether Dr. Uday has been involved in similar fraudulent activities elsewhere.

The incident has raised concerns about security and the need for stringent verification processes, especially when it involves individuals claiming to represent government offices. As the investigation continues, the community remains vigilant, urging others to be cautious of such impersonations in the future.
