Udupi: “Lifelong learning keeps the mind alive, and the joy of giving is life’s greatest reward,” said Additional District Collector Abid Gadyal, speaking at the Honorary Award 2025 ceremony held at Malabar Gold and Diamond Institute, Udupi. The event was organized in celebration of Doctors’ Day, Auditors’ Day, and Press Day, in collaboration with the Kannada Sahitya Parishad Udupi Taluk Unit, Malabar Gold & Diamonds, and Sanskriti Vishwa Pratishthan.

Poornima, Assistant Director, Kannada and Culture Department, highlighted the value of dedication in every profession—from laborers and drivers to doctors and civil servants—emphasizing that such sincerity builds a responsible and healthy society.

At the event, senior journalists Subhash Chandra Wagle and Nazir Polya received the Malabar Vishwa Patrika Award for their contributions to journalism. The Malabar Medical Award was presented to Dr. Ashok Kumar Y.G. and Dr. Chhaya Lata, while K. Surendra Nayak and P. Chandra Mohan Hande were conferred the Malabar World Auditor’s Award.

The achievements of the awardees were introduced by Ranjini Vasanth, Siddhabasaiah Chikkamath, Umesh Acharya, Vidya Saraswati, and Sumitra Keremath. Notably, cinematographer Astro Mohan and Dr. Ganesh Prasad Nayak were felicitated for receiving international recognition and academic accolades.

The event also featured dignitaries like Udupi Vishwanath Shenai, Prof. Shankar, Hafiz Rahman, and Raviraj H.P.. Janardhan Kodavoor welcomed the guests, while Vigneshwar Adiga delivered the opening note. The program was anchored by Raghavendra Prabhu Karvalu, and the vote of thanks was given by Shilpa Joshi.
