Udupi: In a vibrant spiritual event at Sri Krishna Math, the “Kattige Muhurta” — a sacred wood-collection ritual — was held in preparation for the upcoming Paryaya Mahotsava, where Sri Vedavardhana Theertha Sripada of Shirur Math will ascend the Sarvajna Peetham for the first time.

The occasion witnessed the presence of esteemed seers including Sri Sugunendra Theertha Sripada, the current Paryaya Swamiji of Puttige Math, and Sri Sushindra Theertha Sripada, the junior pontiff.

Under the leadership of Dr. Udayakumar Saralattaya, Diwan of Shirur Math, the rituals commenced with prayers to Sri Vitthala Deva, Sri Chandreshwara, Sri Ananteshwara, and Sri Krishna Mukhya Prana Deva. Devotees then participated in a colorful procession that brought sacred wood from the Kalsanka Lakshmi Garden, using bullock carts and hand-pulled carts.

Pujas were performed at the northeastern corner of Madhvasarovara, officially commencing construction of the traditional wooden chariot for the grand festival.
